The development studio inZOI has decided to remove Denuvo Anti-Tampering from the Early Access version of the game. This was announced by the producer of the project Kim Hyunjun.
This protection system would have made it difficult to create mods. Therefore, the developers decided to abandon it, as it caused resentment of the whole community – because everyone expects free modding from InZOI, and Denuvo can prevent it. Especially since the creators did not notify the players that the game will have such a piracy protection mechanism.
“We asked ourselves the question: does the use of Denuvo fit with our philosophy of ‘player first’? The answer was unequivocal: no,” Hyunjoon noted.
The studio is aware that the denial of Denuvo increases the risks of unauthorized modifications, but is confident that this decision will only benefit the game. The developers expect that open access to inZOI files will lead to the emergence of many user creations that expand the possibilities of the game.
The team has also officially confirmed support for modding and intends to develop its functionality. An update with tools for modders will be released in May, and modding capabilities will be expanded in the future.
